Be Better Coaching uses Best Bike Split to help our athletes better plan for their A races and prime events! Combined with the results of their INSCYD test results and TrainingPeaks training data we can create comprehensive race/event plans that provide pacing information as well as nutrition planning.
One of the things that all coaches and athletes try to do is to reduce the number of unknown variables that will impact them on the day of a big event or race as well as find the marginal gains that will help them perform at their best. We at Be Better Coaching have always tried to leverage the latest science to produce training plans that help our athletes exceed their goals.
Best Bike Split is the latest data and science-based tool that we use to help our cyclist athletes exceed their goals. Combined with our INSCYD run testing, Best Bike Split allows us to provide our athletes “state of the art” pacing and fueling strategies for their goal events.
For runners we provide power based event planning for those who use Stryd Powermeters. For those who don't we can leverage the athlete's INSCYD test results to produce pace based plans.
How we use it
Best Bike Split allows us to develop pacing strategies to meet our athletes' goals for the event.
We can use results of previous events that the athlete completed to determine using the Race Analysis Tool to determine how aerodynamic they are. Combined with the Time Analysis Tool, this allows us to vary power, weight and aerodynamics to suggest equipment changes that will make them faster.
Using this, we can then set season FTP or weight goals to ensure the athlete can achieve their goals.
Since the race plan is based on the weather, course, elevation of the actual course, it allows us to create specific training plans that the athlete can use to ensure success on race day. This can be in the form of specific intervals that ensure the athlete can sustain the average power required for the plan or even use indoor training on Zwift, TrainerRoad, and other platforms to complete the specific course under expected race day conditions in advance.
3. Fueling Strategy
Once we have the completed race plan, we can then take a look at the athlete’s latest INSCYD test report to determine the athletes caloric burn rate at the recommended average pace. INSCYD gives us the amount of glycogen stores the athlete has at the start of the event and how many calories they will burn at the plans average pace. We can then use the athlete’s preferred products to accurately predict how much they need to carry to successfully fuel to complete the event.
